Dental Veneers

What are Porcelain Veneers?

When it comes to quality, porcelain veneers set the bar in restorative dentistry. Each one is custom made, and is essentially a thin porcelain shell designed to look like a natural tooth. Once your teeth prepping is complete, these shells are secured to your teeth and instantly transform an imperfect smile.

Our medical-grade ceramic material is noted for durability, stain resistance and appearance. They are crafted to look natural for 15-plus years.

What are Composite Veneers?

Another option to revamp your smile is veneer teeth made of resin, otherwise known as composite Veneers. The material used to make your veneers is not the only difference when choosing which type you should go with. The procedure involved differs as well. Your existing teeth generally don’t need much prep work for these; they can be bonded in one sitting.

While porcelain veneers are crafted off-site, the composite counterparts are molded onto your teeth in the office. A layer of polish helps protect them and gives them a finishing touch that looks like a natural sheen.

The price point is initially lower for the composite versions. However, they do need to be replaced every four to nine years, which can get pricey over a lifetime. Even the best set of composite won’t last as long as porcelain.

Stains can appear. Chips may occur. As these aren’t individually customized, they may also not fit as well as the porcelain versions.

What are Snap-on Veneers?

If you’re never fully dressed without a smile, consider this type the outfit of choice. Made of resin, snap-on veneers are a removable row of teeth designed for temporary use. Although snap-on versions cost much less, they also don’t offer most of the benefits that porcelain do.

Experience The Benefits Of Veneers

Veneers - Before #3Veneers -After #3

A Quick Fix

They transform stained, cracked, chipped and uneven teeth - all at the same time! Even when factoring in prepping teeth, the entire procedure can be done in as few as two visits.

Natural Looking - They are a dead ringer for natural teeth. Dr. Mansoor takes your coloring, age and jaw shape into account when planning for your procedure. Authenticity is key.

Simply Stunning

These beauties can literally give you that picture-perfect smile. Feel like a VIP in your own skin!

Easy to Maintain

Following a consistent oral hygiene routine is generally enough to keep them in pristine condition. Regular cleanings help us keep everything in check too.

Less Invasive

A gorgeous smile of veneers is all gain and no pain! The process is typically pain-free. Prepping your teeth doesn’t involve drilling into roots or gums. Anesthesia may not even be necessary.

Made to Order

Done well, they look the best because they are the best. Porcelain teeth are created and personalized for you. Tooth size, shape, length and color are all customized for your mouth. The fit is perfect. The color suits your skin tone. Everything looks like you always knew it should.

Stain-Resistant

Durability makes porcelain a favorite nonporous material of dentists and patients alike. Unlike natural teeth, porcelain versions are able to maintain their original coloring over time.

Durable

These teeth can last 10, 15 or even 20 years. Don’t have much enamel left on your original teeth? No problem! They will mimic this natural substance, adding strength to your beautiful smile.

Frequently Asked Questions about Porcelain Veneers

Am I a good candidate?

To know for sure if you’re a good candidate you’ll need to book your consultation with our dentist. However, as a general rule, they are be a good fit for you if you:

  • Are in good dental health
  • Do not currently suffer from bruxism (grind your teeth)
  • Have minimal cosmetic issues
  • Practice good oral hygiene

Can I get veneers if I grind my teeth?

Veneers are not suitable for bruxism sufferers. However, Dr. Mansoor can prescribe a treatment program for you that is designed to help you to stop grinding your teeth. Once that issue is resolved then you can reward yourself with beautiful porcelain veneers.

How do I care for my veneers?

Keep them sparkling by committing to their care and maintenance.

  • Avoid nervous biting. It’s time to abandon habits like chewing pens and biting nails.
  • Use a nonabrasive toothpaste to brush teeth at least twice a day.
  • Flossing at least once a day keeps food particles from becoming trapped in tiny spaces.
  • Schedule regular cleanings. Our team at Smiles by Hanna understands how to properly clean veneers. We can help you maintain your smile.
  • Throw out those cigarettes. While porcelain versions resist smoke stains, dental cement does not. Veneer borders become discolored from smoke after time.
  • Use a mouth guard. If you’re into contact sports or rough and tumble activities, be sure to protect your veneers. Wearing a mouth guard can prevent oopsies and uh-ohs that lead back to the dental chair.

Do veneers match my other teeth?

You don’t want existing teeth to stand out if you’re not getting a full set. Dr. Mansoor uses both art and science to create a perfectly polished smile that looks completely natural. Nobody will be able to pick out porcelain veneers from your existing teeth.

How do I know what I will look like with veneers?

There’s no guesswork! Using the latest technology, Dr. Mansoor creates a digital mock-up displaying you with your veneers. You don’t have to imagine what you could look like with a restored smile; now you can see for yourself!

How long will it take to recover from getting veneers?

This minimally invasive procedure takes no recovery time. You can even drive yourself home after your visit. The worst you should feel is a mild discomfort as your gums may be a bit swollen immediately afterwards.

Avoid very hot or cold foods and beverages for roughly a week. Pass on crunchy and hard foods during this adjustment period as well. Sensitivity will soon disappear.

How long do veneers last?

The answer to this question depends on three main factors:

1. Some porcelain versions can last 20 years with a rigorous oral hygiene routine. If you chew your nails, grind your teeth or bite into every apple you see, they will need replacing much sooner.

2. Veneers are made to endure when skillfully applied by an accomplished cosmetic dentist like Dr. Mansoor. Working with unsavory amateurs can lessen the lifespan.

3. If you want the longest lasting veneers, opt for porcelain. This material is renowned for its strength and ability to hold up well through the years.

Porcelain veneers vs. composite? Which is better?

There are advantages that come with both of these popular types of veneers.

Porcelain Pros:

  • Able to correct severe issues
  • Chip-resistant
  • Customized
  • Long-lasting
  • Natural looking
  • Stain-resistant
  • Super strong

Porcelain Cons:

  • Must be fabricated
  • Results are not immediate
  • Top of the price range

Composite Pros:

  • Affordable cost
  • Pleasing appearance
  • Quick

Composite Cons:

  • Can chip easily
  • Don’t last like porcelain versions
  • May not be able to correct every smile
  • Not available in every color, so matching can be difficult
  • They will stain over time

Should I quit certain foods and beverages after getting veneers?

Protect your investment by changing things up a bit with your diet.

  • Avoid direct bites. Using your front veneers as knives is not recommended. Instead of biting down into that pork chop or candy apple, cut up small pieces to enjoy.
  • Limit dark beverages. Better yet, switch from coffee to hot water and lemon and from dark soda to sparkling water.
  • Resist hard foods. When it comes to ice, jawbreakers and raw veggies, take a hard pass. Extra crunchy foods like popcorn should also be limited.
  • Use a straw. When drinking dark liquids, drink through a straw to decrease contact time.
  • Watch alcohol intake. Excessive alcohol consumption can weaken bonding material. Use an alcohol-free mouthwash.

What can veneers correct?

Veneer teeth cover a multitude of sins such as teeth that are:

  • One or more chipped teeth can be covered up. They are especially helpful if your teeth were damaged in an accident.
  • Would you like to conceal cracked teeth? Try veneers.
  • They can work even better than two-plus years of braces for some.
  • Discoloration. Whitening treatments won’t work? Veneers can beautify teeth, no matter how badly they’re stained.
  • So long snaggletooth! Hello perfection!
  • Not spaced properly. Poof! They can make small gaps disappear.
  • They can appear to lengthen teeth that appear too short for your mouth, ridding you of that dreaded gummy smile.
  • Do your teeth seem off balance? Veneers equalize your bite so everything looks as it should.
  • Years of biting nails or bruxism can wear teeth down. Poor diet, lack of proper oral hygiene, soda intake, acid reflux and heavy drinking can decrease tooth enamel. Veneers add vitality.

What’s involved with prepping teeth for veneers?

This process is dependent on the type of veneers you’re getting. A thin layer of enamel is removed away from the teeth. The removal amount is usually less than half a millimeter. Now there is space for veneers and bonding is easier. No-prep veneers require even less preparations.

Which type of veneers’ price is lower?

Composites are initially less expensive than porcelain. However, since this variety doesn’t last as long, composite veneers cost more over time due to having to be replaced and maintained.

What types do you use?

  • ENA Chairside Composite Veneers – An affordable alternative that can nicely conceal minor smile defects.
  • IPS e. Max® – These natural-looking veneers combine strength with beauty and have success rates to prove it. This translucent variety is also known as instant or no-prep veneers.
  • IPS Empress® – Offering a dozen shades for you to choose from, this pressed porcelain veneer remains a popular choice for its ability to blend closely with existing teeth.
  • Lithium Disilicate – This material makes the thinnest of veneers without losing translucence or extreme durability.
  • Pressed Ceramic – These thicker veneers offer consistently positive results for anyone looking to improve their smile long-term.
  • Snap-on Veneers – Mansoor uses veneers made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), a synthetic resin. Best used for temporary solutions, this option offers versatility as they are removable.
  • Stacked Ceramic – While not as long-lasting as pressed ceramic veneers, these highly customizable veneers are created by hand layering porcelain to give you the desired look.

What are the steps of getting veneers?

We take great care to ensure that veneers are the best choice of restorative dentistry for you.

  • Consultation – This step is a must for getting everything right. Dr. Mansoor learns what you wish to accomplish. After a thorough examination, she determines if this procedure will give you your desired outcome. She takes time to explain the details of the process so there are no surprises.
  • First Visit – Tooth enamel is removed. Teeth are lightly ground so they can bond with porcelain veneers. An impression is made using state-of-the-art equipment. Veneers will now be specially created for you. Temporary veneers may be worn while waiting. Permanent porcelain veneers are generally created in two to four weeks.
  • Final Visit – Once the fit is approved, teeth are cleaned. A light sanding allows your teeth to bond with veneers. Dental cement secures them into place. Excess cement is removed. Now you test your bite. Dr. Mansoor makes any adjustments. Voilà! You’re all set!

Is gum contouring necessary with veneers?

Gum contouring cosmetically corrects obvious flaws in your gums. Together, veneers and gum contouring can create a great smile that sits atop an even gum line. Dr. Mansoor can discuss this technique in greater detail with you if your gums may benefit.

How much do veneers cost?

The answer to this question varies widely based on several factors.

  • Do you have existing dental issues? Addressing preexisting conditions beforehand can add to the total cost.
  • How much experience does your dentist have? As beautiful as they can be, they can go very wrong. One of the costs that accompanies the product is the service. You’re paying for the expertise of a specially trained cosmetic dentist like Dr. Mansoor.
  • How many veneers do you need? Obviously it will cost much more to get an entire mouth of veneers than just a few.
  • What type of veneers will you be buying? Porcelain are the priciest, while snap-ons are cheapest.

Per tooth, the costs are comparable to the price of a crown. The price of a single dental veneer, on average, may run anywhere from $800 to $2000.

Does insurance cover veneers’ price?

Since they are deemed purely cosmetic, so most insurance companies will not provide any coverage. However, we do have easy to qualify for payment plans designed to make them more affordable.
