Before Fillers

• Avoid blood-thinning medications. Don’t take NSAIDS (Aleve, Motrin, etc.), muscle relaxers, vitamin E and fish oil supplements three days before your procedure. Dr. Mansoor can provide a complete list beforehand.
• Cleanse your face. Remove all makeup. Gently wash your face. Pat dry.
• Skip the tailgate party. Pass on alcoholic beverages for a few days prior to treatment.

After Fillers

• Disregard pain. Lips may feel tender for a day or so. Gently and frequently apply icepacks. Elevate your head with pillows to decrease any swelling.
• Fly. Schedule flights at least three to seven days from the date of your lip filler appointment. This time allows the filler to settle into your lips. Flights longer than three hours can be most traumatic for newly injected lips so it’s best not to take any chances.
• Don’t forget to hydrate. Get your fill of water and then some. Take full advantage of all the healing properties nature’s soda offers.
• Don’t get too hot. Save the sauna or steam room for another time. Steer clear of direct sunlight. Excessive heat can trigger swelling.
• Go for a massage. Anything that intensifies blood flow to the face is off limits for a full day.
• Don’t indulge in drinking and smoking. Avoid cigarettes and alcohol for at least 24 to 48 hours after getting lip fillers. Lips need this time to heal.
• Take blood-thinning meds. Stay off the same pills and supplements you stopped taking before the procedure for at least 24 hours.
• Don’t wear make-up. Those pretty lips may beg for gloss, but they will have to wait. Allow your face a good 24 hours before going ahead with your morning beauty routine.
• Don’t Work out. You can get back to the gym in a day or so. Enjoy this time off.
