If you suffer from anxiety or fear related to dental work, you’re definitely not alone – in fact, millions of people have admitted to experiencing these negative feelings. At Smiles by Hanna, our team’s top priority is to provide treatment that’s as comfortable and minimally invasive as possible. We also do our best to create a warm, friendly environment for our Gilbert, AZ patients to relax in. However, we understand that this approach is not always enough. That’s why Dr. Hanna Mansoor also offers sedation dentistry services that can take the edge off those frightening emotions, allowing you to feel truly at ease as your smile’s health and beauty is improved.
Our sedation options include:
Also known as laughing gas, this technique is ideal for patients with mild to moderate dental phobia. We’ll administer the nitrous oxide through a nasal mask, and within minutes, you should feel calmer and more at ease. Best of all, these effects are quick to wear off when we’re finished, allowing you to get back to your daily routine with virtually no downtime.
For many patients, nitrous oxide just doesn’t create the calming effect they want. In fact, it would be better if they didn’t have to remember their treatment at all. This effect is often possible with our conscious sedation techniques! The process is simple – you can take medication either orally or intravenously, depending on your preference, and then enter into a state of deep comfort and relaxation. While you’ll still be able to respond to commands from Dr. Hanna and her staff, you may actually feel like you’re asleep, and a near-amnesic effect is common once the medication wears off.
Gilbert patients undergoing conscious sedation will need someone to bring them to and from their appointment, as well as watch over them for the rest of the day. By the following morning, you should be back to normal and able to finally enjoy your improved smile to the fullest!
Please contact Smiles by Hanna today if you’re interested in undergoing sedation dentistry for your next appointment at our Gilbert practice. Call us at (480) 279-3700.
